Happy New Year...almost

I thought it would never end...2002 has less than two hours of life left in her, and I've got about 15 minutes of life left in me today.
So it's to bed again this year before the infamous ball drops in Times Square.

Let me close the year by saying Jesus is Lord and He has been most gracious and benevolent to me this year.

It has been a peaceful year at the Hosking home, all the bills are current and I have FAR more than I need!

New Years resolutions...why bother :)

There are many things I'd like to accomplish in 2003 but the only one worth anything is reaching more boys girls and adults with the Good News that we have a Saviour in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Caught a bit of George Carlin last night on HBO...I don't recommend you include his type of comedy in your everyday diet but I just happened across him as I was surfing and caught his take on the 10 commandments. To sum up he reduced them to a manageable 2 suggestions and I found it interesting why he removed "Thou shalt honor they mother and thy father...". He claimed that honor and respect should not be mandated and must be earned and therefore the majority of parents don't deserve it. Although I agree with the Almighty in His proclamations, I think George is onto another aspect of Gods word that tells parents not to "...provoke your children to wrath...". I provokes me to near wrath when I see a parent with a cigarette hanging from their mouth and an obvious beer gut smack their kid upside the head while chastising them with words no larger than 4 letters each about their apparent misbehaviors.
Children must be taught by example, they do not have the capacity to reason out why their obedience is due an unruly and undisciplined parent.
Admittedly George is on a fast track to hell, but he is not blind, and wisdom is of value despite the source. He did pay a compliment to "Conservative Christians" as he called us "motivated", he may have meant it for evil but I don't see it that way.
He combined a few commandments into one that he rephrased as "Be honest and faithful to your wife", the other was "Thou shalt not Kill...well unless you have a good reason"
Perhaps I'll comment on the bit of "Ellen" I saw another time.
